Elemetal is a young high-tech company founded in 2009 as a spinoff from the TU Delft. Today, we have built an expertise in separating difficult waste streams through hydrometallurgical and physical separation processes and have several granted patents. Objectives of the job
Responsible for the process design, commissioning and optimization of new and existing installations and machines, initiates and executes basic and applied R&D.

Position withcoolin the organization
Reports to the Manager of Elemetal. The Process Engineer may be asked to take accompany third parties on location.

As a chemical process engineer you are responsible for the process design, commissioning and further optimization of new and existing installations within (pre-sales) projects. You are involved with these projects from start to finish. Together with the project team you will ensure that all processes and knowledge is retained and further developed. In addition, you will ensure together with the project team, that the project assignments are realized according to plan, budget and quality.

As a Chemical Process Engineer you also initiate and execute fundamental research, product innovation and product development. You will oversee the entire process and ensure that the right choices are made on the conceptual level. Examples of job activities will be process engineering, project management, R&D activities and the startup of our new leaching plant. R&D activities can vary from conceptual desk studies, followed by laboratory research and pilot testing, before they can be implemented on a production scale.

As a Chemical Process Engineer you will be involved in the optimization of the operation. You advise the operational department so that the quality of the plants remains such that the performance meets the requirements. You examine new developments in the field of chemical and hydrometallurgical process technology and make suggestions for improvements at your own initiative.

You are expected to be able to work with people on different levels and with different backgrounds. You are expected not to lose sight of the business aspect when coming up with different projects, to have relevant technical knowledge, to be a creative thinker and to be innovative. In addition to your project team, you will also work together with other parties, both internally and externally.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Creating a process design, the (joint) implementation of this process design and (assists with) the commissioning
  • Initiating and conducting basic and applied research
  • Advising operational departments
  • Collecting and analyzing data
  • Translating test results to industrial scale processes
  • Gathering information on new or competing technologies in the market

Job requirements

  • University degree: Chemical Process Engineering / Recycling / Metallurgy / Mining engineering and related directions
  • Hands-on mentality, able to prioritise
  • Independent, results-oriented, flexible
  • Willingness to travel within the Netherlands and abroad
  • Team spirit, able to work well with people on different levels
  • Can be convincing when needed
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written
  • Fluency in Dutch and English, spoken and written
