We're looking for an experienced Senior EHS Specialist to join our team.

What you’ll get to do:
- Ensure our company meets all requirements of environmental, occupational health and safety, health and safety policies, and federal, state, county or environmental, local health and safety regulations, laws, and standards.
- Evaluate, develop and revise company-wide safety management and hazard elimination prevention programs and procedures to ensure a safe workplace for all employees, contractors and visitors.
- Implement EHS training programs for employees. Arrange, coordinate and perform health and safety training, review and update safety-related content for site supervisors to deliver to new hires during onboarding. Evaluate training methods and presentations used by site supervisors.
- Develop and implement industrial hygiene monitoring programs.
- Evaluate each site’s safety statistics and provide recommendations based on observed trends.
- Act as Plant Emergency Coordinator and Safety Committee Director.
- Conduct site EHS inspections and address identified deficiencies.
- Serve as the point of contact for communication, documentation and reporting to all agencies.
- Maintain an accurate filing system for EHS records.
- Maintain internal reporting and information systems and communicate non-compliance events, public/media issues, and EHS testing/inspection activities to Executive Committee.
- Assist site manager in identifying root causes and recommended mitigations for all safety-related incidents. Provide feedback as necessary on safety investigation reports compiled by site managers and supervisors.
- Coordinate Industrial Hygiene and Medical Surveillance Programs, including exposure sampling and annual health screenings. Serve as point of contact for air and noise sampling, update compliance programs based on data, and communicate results to staff.
- Plan and evaluate emergencies and confined space drills. Coordinate with the emergency services to walk the facility and to participate in drills annually.
- Participate in site meetings to evaluate management commitment, function and effectiveness. Provide input on EHS-related matters and continuous improvement projects and share best practices. Periodically meet with site managers to discuss EHS issues, requests for information, OSHA interpretations, AFE/change management input, etc.
- Identify recurring or potential issues, determine their underlying causes, and implement effective solutions as appropriate.
- Evaluate, recommend and procure PPE and equipment using company-preferred vendors.
- Coordinate annual inspections of fire control equipment.
- Post OSHA 300 logs annually and complete all entries in the company’s Incident Management System.
- Participate in school programs, tours and other public presentations as appropriate.
- Spend balanced time at both of our project sites in Shrewsbury, MA and Putnam, CT, traveling between sites as necessary.
What you need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, engineering, science or other related discipline
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience with safety compliance programs, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing setting
- Demonstrated knowledge, experience and understanding of environmental, occupational health and safety requirements to implement related policies and procedures
- Licenses required by local, state, federal, environmental and/or health/safety regulatory agencies
- Proficiency with MS Office, particularly Word and Excel; EHS information systems; and agency reporting software
- Strong work ethic and sound judgment
